Additional information about the manufacturer (1st KDO Factory):
- Origin: The factory was founded in 1888 by prominent Russian industrialists—the brothers Pavel and Mikhail Kurzhenkov. Before the revolution, the enterprise supplied high-quality tableware and lamp glass, including items for the Imperial Court.
- The Name: Like many other, this factory was nationalised in 1918. In 1924, it was named after the 1st KDO to honour the factory workers who formed the First Communist Volunteer Detachment to fight in the Russian Civil War.
- Maker's Mark: On items from the "Azhurny" set, the maker's mark is most often embossed as raised letters "1 КДО" or "І КДО", located on the bottom base or under the handle of the piece.
